Jalan menuju ke Mossy Forest telah dihalang masuk oleh Tour agent. Hanya dia punya 4WD boleh lalu. Itu jalan government, boleh block rakyat untuk business mereka ke?

Sungguh kecewa dengan budak² kaunter bertutur sungguh kasar dan tidak hormati pelanggan
Tegur pun kurang ajar.
Lagi² kalau non Muslim tanya ape² sahaja sungguh berat nak jawap tidak friendly.
Buat muka sombong dan kiraan bayaran pun suka main hantam jee . overall pengurus tapak sg pauh sungguh sombong,kurang ajar dan rasis dgn kaum lain

Les trails des Cameron Highlands sont fantastiques, une nature d'exception, et un climat si agréable. Malheureusement vous demandez des permis et/ou un guide et vos sentiers ne sont pas entretenus du tout.
C’est incroyable que arrive a Cameron Highlands la majorite des trails faut payer un guide alors que la route est simple, tout ca pour gratter le plus d’argent aux touristes et en dehors de ca faut trouver et prevois les creanaux !

Même les locaux ne vous comprennent pas...

Very disappointing experience as they decided to close out every available trail just to make money. The only reason tourism thrives in this area is because of walking trails but because of potential greed and what not they just decide to close the free trails and require a permit. Even the tourist guides and information didn't know about it until we went to the trails and saw a sign put up spontaneously. The government should focus less on making a quick buck but more on offering a good experience otherwise Cameron Highlands will not be visited in the future. Given what I know now I would think twice of coming here.
One more thing, if you already need a permit than I expect the place to be clean and not full of rubbish. What do you do with all the money

Sadly all the trails are closed until further notice and they don’t know when it will open again. The officer was kind, but he couldn’t help me out or give me any other suggestions on what to do.

I heard from a local guide that a lot of the trails are shutting down because of tourism (throwing trash around the forest and not taking care of their surrounding) or during the rain season the trails are flooded and dangerous to use.

A small tip:
plan outside of the rain season (even if some blogs says you can hike around, it seems they are stricter now).

Nous n'avons aucun problème pour payer un permis ou autre si vous justifiez correctement les raisons de fermeture des trails.
Si vous nous dites que c'est pour la sécurité, pour préserver la faune et la flore ou autre on comprend mais dans ces cas là expliquez et donnez des délais de fermeture, communiquez, faites quelque chose. Les Cameron Highlands ont beaucoup moins d'intérêt si ce n'est pour du "Fast Travelling Selfie".
Même les locaux ne vous comprennent pas...

very disappointing. all trails seem to be closed / badly maintained / require permission and guide. no one can really tell, people at the forest office very unfriendly.

Firstly, the ladies at the information were very kind and answered all our questions.

What we found out about hiking in Cameron Highlands: the system is just ridiculous - to hike trail 1, you do not only need a guide but also have to apply 7 days in advance for a permit. There is no chance of getting a permit the same day or day after.

I hiked trails in Europe, North & South America, and Asia and have never experienced trail access to be so restricted. Either you need a guide or a permit or just let the people pay a small entry fee how other countries manage it.

We are talking about a jungle trail to a hill - not a mountain trail in Nepal or Switzerland! I hiked trail 10 without a guide, without a permit, and it was totally fine.

If CH continues to close trails, asking for permits and guides, they won't be no dream destination for hikers anymore. The internet is already full of complaints and disappointed hikers telling you it's not worth the journey.

So, if you continue with this confusing system and restricting trails like that, you will lose all nature lovers and explorers. What's left? All-inclusive tourists that jump in and out of a car to make one photo. If that is your aim, you are pretty close. This is definitely not me, and I can not recommend to any of my friends coming to CH for hiking.
